1905

Band Members

Jess – Vocals
Nick – Vocals/Guitar
Brian – Bass
Marshall – Drums

1905 is a great band with an unfortunate short lived music career. They were formed in 2000, released one CD, and broke up in 2006. Their music has been classified as punk, rock, and screamo. The sound of the band is a mix of subtle soft sounds with screaming and a mix of male and female vocals.

I have to say that this band has the best female screamer that I have ever heard. Their album Voice is incredible and I highly recommend it to . . . well, anyone. They quickly became one of my favorites on my MP3 player when I was trying out their music for the first time.

You can check out some pictures of the band and sample their music below. You can also purchase their CD by Clicking Here.

Emo Shirts

Emo shirts are a big part of the emo image, especially for guys. There are basically 3 different types of emo shirts: a plain black t-shirt or tank top, a band shirt, or a graphic or novelty t-shirt. Of course, thanks to the expansion of the style, there is a much broader range of shirts that can be considered emo shirts, but for the sake of brevity this article is going to focus on those three types of emo shirts.

The classic black t-shirt was a staple in the original introduction of emo culture into society. It’s still fairly popular today as they are inexpensive to buy and can be worn plain or accessorized. Popular ways to spice up a black t-shirt are to throw a flannel on over it, or accessorize with a bandana.

Next in the line up of emo shirts is band t-shirts. This is a staple for most emo guys. Band shirts are a great way to tell the world who you listen to and allow them to associate your style, not only with the way that you dress, but with the type of music that you listen to. Older rock band t-shirts are also popular as well as shirts of current bands.

Typically, female emos swing more towards wearing novelty or graphic t-shirts as opposed to band shirts. These emo shirts will usually have a popular character, such as Zim from Invader Zim, or a catchy phrase with a cute character. Cupcakes and dinosaurs are pretty popular right now.

A lot of emo girls simply wear plain tank tops and accessorize the living hell out of them. The truth is that you can make almost any shirt fit in with your emo style if you know how to accessorize it correctly.

The emo shirts pictured in this article are available from Hot Topic.

If I Stop Being Emo Will I Stop Cutting?

Question Posted by Jessica Mesa: “im emo and i cut my wrists but my other friendz are emo but dey dnt cut demselfs all da tym lyk i do ive cut my wrist eva scence my brother died when i was 10 i love my bro but i hate life now sould i move on or keep bein emo???????”

Answer: While cutting has been branded as a typical emo stereotype, it is NOT the essence of being emo. If you believe that cutting is what made you emo in the first place, then you’re only contributing to the negative stereotype that causes so many people to shun the emo culture.

There are a lot of people who self harm who aren’t emo at all, both teenagers and adults. No one is immune to dealing with their stress in negative means just because they are not emo.

Just because you quit being emo doesn’t mean that you will stop cutting. If you are a non-poser cutter (hate to put it that way but that’s the only way I could think of to word it), then cutting has been hard wired into your brain from doing it so repetitively that you have no other way to mentally be able to cope with your stress. Deciding to suddenly not be emo is not going to make that go away.

It’s likely going to take a long period of discipline and trying other methods of stress relief to get you out of the habit of cutting when you are stressed out. Instead of trying to shed an image which isn’t the problem in the first place, try finding activities that you can engage in whenever you get super stressed out. For example, you could take a walk, work out, draw, play guitar, watch television, play video games, or sleep. There is no one size fits all solution to dealing with stress. Try different things until one sticks and can replace your desire to cut whenever you are stressed out.

If you stop being emo will you stop cutting? The answer is 99%  that it’s highly unlikely. Being emo is not the cause of your cutting, poor stress management is.

5 Videos of Emo Makeup Tutorials

This set of videos is designed to complement the emo makeup tutorial articles on the site. I know that a lot of people out there are visual learners so hopefully this will help a bit. These videos will also give you insight into how different people do their makeup. I was going to do comments on each video but I’m feeling a bit lazy right now, plus I don’t feel like watching them all again and I have a ton more work to do after I make this post, so I’ll just say that the last one is my favorite.
